Suzette Boyette is just like you. She was always too busy to volunteer. Oh she definitely wanted to! But there was always some excuse…”Who is going to watch the children?” or “I have too many things to do.” Or “Oh, I’ll volunteer after the kids are in school…” She had always intended to, but never acted upon it.
Until Hurricane Katrina. With that catastrophic event, Suzette felt such a strong need to reach out to her community. So even with three young children, she found the time she thought she never had. She started out volunteering with Meals on Wheels - complete with children in tow.
Since then, she has been a passionate volunteer in various organizations such as the Beta Center, the Compassion Outreach Center, Head Start Programs, Healthy Start Programs, and also in her children’s schools. When she can, she takes all three children with her. She hopes to be an example to her own children - indeed all it takes is one person to make a difference.
